and I, finally set up in our little cabin on Mission Beach, rigged 6
cats and went for a short sprint to Dunk Island - bar on the beach,
drinks in our wetsuits, made a bit of an impression on the resort
holiday goers. Took over their gorgeous beach with boats and roudy
sailors.
Yvonne sailed over with Pete and James, a real trooper! We'll make a
sailor out of her yet :) said she had heaps of fun.
Water is beutifully warm, got to watch the wild life. One guy hit a
turtle (so many turtles), Warren and I hit a baby tiger shark today, a
Dugong surfaced to play during the 'round the island' (dunk Is) race
yesterday. Although apparently we're in cassowary land, caution signs
everywhere... And not one sighting :( next time lucky!
We had light winds for most of the regatta - mostly 10 knots, very
shifty. Next time we come up we'll take some more time off either side
of the regatta - it's a long way to go for a week-end... But beutiful
enough to make it worth it :)
