First day on the boat

Got to Rugsted all keen to get onto the water quickly before training with time to spare for some touch ups... soo many things to change. After hours of TLC yesterday, the beaks on our infamous new pole do not close - properly or sometimes at all. The kite must have come off the pole 6 times sailing out to the training area... hmmm not so competitive. I now understand why we received a brand new (defective) pole with our charter boat - I was so happy (sigh). We're now borrowing Stacey and Chelsea's spare.

It was good to go for a sail - frustrating, none of the settings were quite right, had a gazillion things to change BUT good to get on the water. Good wind too - maybe 18 knots and building, shifty, huge tide or current, need to check out some maps of the area.

Spent hours doing boat work although it felt much more productive than yesterday - we are now honoured patrons of the chandlery around the corner! There will still be things to tweak - the only big issue left is the position of he jib cleat which is forward for forward taking - not the technique we've been training with. On the off chance the guys we chartered the boat are happy for us to re-drill the whole jib cleat system (major endevour), I may need to change how I tack, not ideal just before the worlds - this is where my 'can do' positivity needs to kick in two fold :)

Will sleep well tonight :)
