We finally found our charter boat which is in good nic, but of course we still needed to do some boatwork to get it just right. In Will's words "whatever time you think you need to spend on boat work for a 470, times that by 7,5... at least!".
We didn't really have all that much to do to our boat, but somehow we spent all day at the club. the boat came with a brand new pole (so so happy about that!), but the beaks were back to front to the way we usually have them - so after hours of drilling, rivetting, drilling and re-riveting (don't ask...) it's now just right.
Our biggest dillema today was that our rudder (Zieglemayer) doesn't fit the Makay boat... and to top it off, we discovered a subtle, long crack which, in heavy wind, would probably break the rudder in two! hmmmm... Thank you Qantas fragile freight! Matt and Mal kindly lent us their spare - we will need to take extra extra care.
In a nut shell, I think we can describe today as frustrating, but at least it's mostly done. touch wood - when we go for our first sail tomorrow our 'to do' list doesn't expand too much!
